In the beginning of 2005, a little store opened up in the building next to our former apartment in Brooklyn. It was called Greenjeans, and was run by an engaged (later married) couple named Jae and Amy. The store was small, but they decorated it nicely and started selling things (jewelry, furniture, toys, glassware/kitchenware, baskets, picture frames, purses, and chairs, among many other things) made by American artisans that they chose based on their good taste. Since they’ve opened their doors, we’ve purchased 90% of our gifts from them and all those who received these gifts claimed to have liked them. Along the way, we’ve gotten to know Jae and Amy, and if the store itself is not a little gem, these two people are.
But we digress. The point is that shortly before we departed the store started carrying a set of felt products, such as bowls, boxes, and small squishy balls. All of these are very nice, but for some reason the squishy ball caught our attention, and we purchased it, and threw it around the apartment prior to our departure. Along, the way we decided that this seemingly indistructible, light, soft, and pretty object will make the journey with us around the world. This page is dedicted to just that. We will be posting pictures of the ball in different settings, starting with our apartment in Brooklyn, right before we left.
You can see more photos of the ball in various locations in the following gallery: http://simonica.smugmug.com/gallery/1675275
